Super Mario Bros. Wonder receives a feature-packed Switch 2 upgrade with Bellabel Park, introducing dozens of minigames, new challenge courses, and robust multiplayer options for families and groups.
Nintendo is expanding its hit platformer with the newly released Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup at Bellabel Park, bringing a kitchen-sink approach to fresh content. According to a review by Oli Welsh over at Polygon, the sprawling expansion drops a dizzying array of features into the mix, including 23 multiplayer minigames, a new power-up, additional game modifiers, and two fresh playable characters. For players who already own the base game, logging in can feel surprisingly similar to returning to a live-service title after a long break, complete with new currencies and unlock systems to track.
Despite the initial clutter, the core experience remains as brilliant as ever, anchored by the standout Toad Brigade Training Camp mode. Featuring 74 remixed courses from the original game, this challenge mode alone offers a solid few hours of top-tier platforming. The expansion also leans heavily into social play with its new Attractions minigames, supporting up to 12 players online and local wireless sessions. While some cooperative modes feel a bit missable, competitive highlights like the chaotic Coin Spree races and Phanto Tag make local multiplayer nights an absolute riot for groups and families.
Accessibility is another major focus here, with a new Assist Mode that makes enemies harmless and introduces Luma as a fly-around helper character controlled via sticks or mouse inputs. It is an undeniably scattershot package where some ideas land better than others, but the sheer level of polish and creative energy keeps it thoroughly enjoyable. Ultimately, while veteran solo players might find parts of the upgrade inessential, the package delivers plenty of value for families and dedicated multiplayer groups.
