Nintendo closed out the Summer Game Fest season with a major Direct showcase, featuring fresh Kingdom Hearts 4 gameplay, a look at FromSoftware's The Duskbloods, and new Capcom ports for the Switch 2.
Summer Game Fest has officially wrapped up, and Nintendo took the final spot on the calendar to deliver a packed Direct showcase. As reported by Polygon, the presentation served as the closing ceremony for a massive week of industry reveals, giving players a clearer look at what is coming to the Switch 2 and beyond. Rather than getting lost in the noise of competing publisher showcases, Nintendo leaned heavily into its signature mix of legacy powerhouses and unexpected third-party partnerships to close out the June showcase season.
One of the biggest surprises of the broadcast was a brand new gameplay trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4, courtesy of Square Enix. After missing the spotlight during earlier SGF streams, the upcoming RPG reappeared with fresh footage of Sora battling a giant Darkside Heartless in the realistic setting of Quadratum. Alongside that heavy-hitting franchise update, FromSoftware offered another look at its upcoming Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods, confirming that a closed network test will give players hands-on time with the dark action title later this summer.
Capcom also reinforced its strong commitment to Nintendo hardware by announcing two major titles headed to the platform. Onimusha: Way of the Sword arrives on September 25, and it will be followed on October 9 by Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. This expanded version of the 2024 role-playing game introduces a snowy new Nordic region called Norgan alongside a fresh loot appraisal system, giving players on Nintendo's latest ecosystem plenty of new content to dive into as the year rolls on.
