Summer Game Fest 2026 delivered major gaming news, including Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, Resident Evil Veronica, Alien Isolation 2, and PlatinumGames taking over TMNT: The Last Ronin.
Summer Game Fest returned with a massive two-hour showcase hosted by Geoff Keighley and Lucy James, delivering a steady stream of world premieres, long-awaited sequels, and major updates that captured the attention of players everywhere. Square Enix stole the final slot of the show by officially revealing Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the third and final installment in the remake trilogy. Set to launch simultaneously across platforms in spring 2027, the title promises the ultimate showdown between Cloud and Sephiroth without the platform exclusivity baggage of previous entries. Capcom also leaned into nostalgia and modern polish by announcing Resident Evil Veronica, a complete reimagining of Code Veronica slated for a 2027 release across current hardware, including the Nintendo Switch 2.
Fans of dark sci-fi and survival horror had plenty to celebrate as well. Creative Assembly and Sega finally pulled back the curtain on Alien Isolation 2, shifting the terror to Kurasaki Station for a fresh round of synthetic and xenomorph dread. Meanwhile, Fumito Ueda and GenDesign offered the first real look at gen Atlas, marking the legendary creator's first project in over a decade. On the quirkier side of the broadcast, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio dropped a bizarre new trailer for Stranger Than Heaven featuring digital guest appearances from Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur ahead of its January 2027 launch, proving that the studio refuses to run out of wild ideas.
Action and multiplayer fans also received major updates, highlighted by PlatinumGames taking over the reins for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. The acclaimed comic adaptation now has a AAA action powerhouse behind it, giving the project a massive shot of adrenaline. Bandai Namco stepped up with Gundam Rogue Orbit, a mech action title leaning heavily into Armored Core territory, while Dead Astronauts previewed Haex, an open-world survival shooter built for up to four players.
