Unknown Worlds has outlined a series of upcoming updates for Subnautica 2, bringing proximity chat, predator behavior fixes, biomod improvements, and the eventual return of the Prawn Suit to existing save files.
Following a massive launch that has surely put publisher Krafton in a comfortable spot, developer Unknown Worlds has detailed the first major wave of updates heading to Subnautica 2. According to a recent development log covered by Rock Paper Shotgun, the team is prioritizing quality of life improvements alongside crucial bug fixes. Players can expect immediate hotfixes targeting performance issues on epic graphic settings, crash stability, and resource distribution like increased silver and troilite drops. Crucially, the studio is listening to community feedback regarding combat frustration by adjusting predator attack frequency, damage scaling, and how effectively players can deter aggressive fauna.
Beyond technical polish, the upcoming patches introduce deeper systems changes that reward exploration and social play. The biomods system is expanding to allow multiple passive slot unlocks, giving early game loadouts more flexibility. Co-op lobbies are also getting a major upgrade with the addition of emotes and proximity voice chat. Immersion is taking center stage as well, with clearer parasite aggression cues during blight encounters, a refined priority audio system for critical voiceovers, and the long awaited ability to replay past PDA logs directly from your inventory.
Looking further ahead, the developers teased the eventual return of the fan favorite Prawn Suit, which will debut alongside an entirely new biome region. What makes this upcoming content drop particularly player friendly is how the studio is handling save compatibility. The new region and its accompanying creatures and resources will integrate seamlessly into existing save files so players can dive right in without losing progress. As reported by Rock Paper Shotgun, these features will roll out incrementally as Unknown Worlds continues to refine the underwater survival experience across PC and Xbox platforms.
