Strange Scaffold has officially announced El Paso, Elsewhere 2 during the PC Gaming Show, bringing back James Savage for a 2027 release on PC and Xbox Series X and S with expanded combat and cosmic horror elements.
Developer Strange Scaffold surprised the gaming world during the PC Gaming Show by announcing El Paso, Elsewhere 2, a follow-up to their cult-hit 2023 supernatural shooter. The original game earned widespread acclaim for its emotional storytelling and distinct PS2-era aesthetic, following monster hunter James Savage into a subterranean motel underworld. Studio head Xalavier Nelson Jr. noted that making the first game nearly caused the studio to close, making the existence of a sequel an unexpected victory for the team and for fans of indie narrative action.
The sequel picks up after the survival of James Savage, pulling him into a fresh supernatural void following a betrayal by a friend. Players can expect the core third-person action to return alongside a wider arsenal of weapons and expanded vampiric abilities. Strange Scaffold is also leaning deeper into cosmic horror, introducing biblically accurate angels and other unsettling entities alongside the returning vampire threat to broaden the scope of the narrative.
Soundtracks played a massive role in the identity of the original game, and the sequel is continuing that tradition with a heavy emphasis on audio design. Strange Scaffold is partnering with music producers Kalibration and RJ Lake to build both the official game score and a companion hip-hop horror rap album. Set for a 2027 release on Windows PC and Xbox Series X and S, the game is shaping up to be a major highlight for players who love stylish action and deep genre storytelling.
