Shift Up leadership has expressed interest in collaborating with PlatinumGames on a new Bayonetta game following an upcoming crossover in Stellar Blade.
Studio leadership at Shift Up has floated the idea of joining forces with PlatinumGames to develop a brand new entry in the Bayonetta franchise. Speaking in a recent interview with Famitsu alongside PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba, Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung-tae mentioned that he would love to design characters for a future Bayonetta title. The conversation coincided with the announcement of an upcoming crossover that brings Bayonetta, Jeanne, and unique outfits to Stellar Blade across PlayStation 5, PC, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
While Inaba did not immediately commit to a joint project, he expressed openness to future collaborations with the Shift Up team. Fans of the stylish action genre have plenty of reasons to watch this space, especially since the franchise has been relatively quiet since the divisive conclusion of Bayonetta 3. Sega currently owns the intellectual property while Nintendo has historically funded recent entries, meaning any new partnership would require alignment across multiple corporate entities.
For players invested in character action games, the prospect of Shift Up lending its technical and artistic expertise to a new Bayonetta game is an exciting development. Crossovers like this one, alongside recent appearances in other titles, show that Sega is actively keeping the Umbra Witch relevant while the community waits for news of a fourth installment.
