Stellar Blade Complete Edition Details Performance Targets for Switch 2 Port

Shift Up has confirmed that Stellar Blade: Complete Edition will target 60 FPS on the Switch 2 using clever frame interpolation techniques, with a playable demo slated for Tokyo Game Show.

Shift Up has pulled back the curtain on how Stellar Blade: Complete Edition will run on Nintendo's upcoming hardware, confirming a targeted 60 frames per second alongside dedicated handheld and docked resolutions. According to an interview with Nintendo Everything, chief technology officer Dong-ki Lee explained that the action title will render at 720p in handheld mode and scale up to 1080p when docked. The complete package bundles the base game with all previously released downloadable content, making it a major play for the platform.

Getting a demanding action game to run smoothly on portable hardware required some clever engineering from the development team. While the system utilizes Nvidia DLSS upscaling, the integrated processor lacks the specific frame generation features found in high-end desktop cards. To solve this, Shift Up turned to a technique from AMD's FSR 3.1 technology, utilizing frame interpolation to double a base 30 frames per second up to the final 60 frames per second target while keeping input lag in check.

Players eager to test the port firsthand will not have to wait too much longer. Lee confirmed in a separate interview with GamesRadar+ that the Switch 2 version will be fully playable on the show floor at Tokyo Game Show later this month. While Shift Up has not yet locked down a definitive release date for the port, the growing wave of hardware details suggests the launch is drawing closer.
