PC players looking for a weekend scare have a solid reason to dive back into the horror archives. As originally reported by Game Rant, Steam users can currently claim the story expansion for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin at zero cost. Released back in 2009 by Monolith Productions, the sequel holds a special place in the shooter library for its clever blending of intense psychological horror and tight gunplay, even if subsequent entries took the franchise in different directions.
For anyone who missed out on the expansion back in the day, or veterans looking for a nostalgia trip, this is an easy win. The DLC adds a unique narrative angle to the core campaign, expanding on the eerie atmosphere that made the original release a cult classic. In an era where digital storefronts routinely rotate perks and temporary freebies, picking up a ten dollar piece of classic horror content without opening your wallet is always welcome.
Deals like this also highlight the ongoing value of digital preservation on PC platforms like Steam. While the industry often chases the next big live service launch or hardware upgrade, revisiting foundational single player titles remains a vital part of the gaming diet. Head over to Steam to check out the listing, add the expansion to your library, and see if Alma still holds the same terrifying grip she did over a decade ago.
