Starfield Gets a Little Love (and a Promise of More to Come, Maybe?)

Bethesda dropped a small beta update for Starfield with some minor tweaks and a vague promise of future content, leaving us cautiously optimistic and wondering if they're actually planning something big or just keeping the lights on.
Right, so Bethesda's dropped a teeny-tiny beta update for Starfield, and while it's not exactly earth-shattering (or, uh, star-shattering?), it does come with a little wink-and-a-nudge about future content. Thanks to the folks at Game Rant for spotting this one – looks like there’s still life in this particular spacefaring dog yet!
The 1.15.222 beta update, available for those Steam players who've opted into the beta branch (you know, the brave souls), is mostly about tidying things up. We're talking minor improvements to the Creations menus – presumably making it easier to sort through all those mods, though there aren't any new features, that's for sure. There's also a fix for dodgy Extreme Temperature gear (no more freezing your nads off when you shouldn't be, apparently), and some tinkering with mission sorting. Oh, and the usual "general crash and stability fixes" which, let's be honest, could mean anything from 'we fixed a major bug' to 'we crossed our fingers and hoped for the best.'
Now, the update itself is hardly headline news. It's the accompanying statement from Bethesda that's raised a few eyebrows. They've said they're "continuing work on future updates and will share more about the exciting things we have planned for Starfield in the coming months." Sounds promising, eh? But… and there’s always a 'but', isn't there? Recent rumours suggest that Starfield's next expansion is unlikely to arrive until 2025. So, while it's good to hear they're not abandoning the game entirely, it also feels like we're in for a bit of a wait.
Starfield had a bit of a rocky launch. Sure, the critics mostly lapped it up, but player reception was… well, let’s just say it didn't set the galaxy alight the way some of Bethesda's other titles have. But Bethesda seems determined to keep plugging away, which is admirable, I reckon. Maybe this is the beginning of the comeback story, or maybe, just maybe, it's Bethesda managing expectations. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what these 'exciting things' actually turn out to be.
What *would* be interesting would be a genuine injection of player-created content, some Web3 integrated modding, or something to give the community more influence over the game, eh? But until that day comes, we'll just have to be happy with these tiny updates and even tinier promises from Bethesda... Unless you're knee deep into modding, then fair play to you, mate!
