Starfield Finally Lands on PlayStation 5 This April

Bethesda has confirmed that Starfield is coming to PlayStation 5 on April 7, priced at $49.99 and launching alongside the Terran Armada expansion and a major free update.

After more than two years of console exclusivity, Bethesda Game Studios is bringing Starfield to the PlayStation 5 on April 7, as reported by Michael McWhertor at Polygon. The sci-fi role-playing game will arrive alongside a price drop to $49.99 for the base edition on all platforms, plus a physical and digital Premium Edition for players who want to dive straight into the expanded content. Alongside the platform jump, Bethesda is dropping two major updates on launch day, introducing a new story DLC expansion called Terran Armada and a free update titled Free Lanes.

PlayStation 5 players will find a few platform-specific perks waiting for them when the game drops. The port will take full advantage of the DualSense controller, supporting its adaptive triggers, light bar, and touch pad. Meanwhile, players on the PS5 Pro will get two distinct graphics options to choose from, including a Pro Performance Mode focused on higher frame rates and a Pro Visual Mode for fidelity. This release marks another step in Microsoft's evolving multiplatform strategy, following a similar path to other major first-party titles making their way across console lines.

For players who skipped the initial launch in September 2023, this April release offers a chance to experience the space exploration RPG with years of refinements and new content baked in. While initial reviews were mixed regarding how the game balanced its massive scope with repetitive loops, fresh story expansions and technical tuning give the community a compelling reason to check out the cosmos.
