Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic Adds More BioWare Veterans to its Roster

Arcanaut Studios has added more former BioWare and KOTOR developers to the team working on Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, bolstering the project led by Casey Hudson.

The team behind Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is starting to look like a classic BioWare family reunion. As reported by Fran Ruiz over at Eurogamer, newly founded developer Arcanaut Studios has updated its roster with several heavy hitters who shaped the golden era of the studio, strengthening confidence in the project as it targets a release before the end of the decade.

Leading the new wave of talent is chief technology officer Ryan Hoyle, whose credits include the original Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect. They are joined by production and performance director Caroline Livingstone, external development director Melanie Faulknor, and senior technical designer Dan Fessenden. This crew joins studio founder and project leader Casey Hudson, bringing back the exact creative DNA that built the universe players fell in love with decades ago.

While details remain scarce on gameplay, story, or canonicity, the buildup of this veteran team is a massive statement of intent. It also sets up an interesting race against Saber Interactive and their long-gestating KOTOR remake. For players who treat these classic RPG worlds as foundational social and cultural touchstones, seeing the original architects reunite under a new banner is the best possible news to kick off development.
