Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds welcomes SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star in a new character pack, bringing classic Bikini Bottom energy to the arcade racer.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is expanding its roster with some unexpected neighbors from Bikini Bottom. A fresh trailer released via IGN South Africa shows SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star trading their usual pineapple and rock for high speed karts, bringing a heavy dose of nostalgia to the arcade racer. Seeing two of animation's most recognizable faces drift around classic tracks highlights how modern crossovers continue to shape the current multiplayer landscape.
For a community that thrives on chaotic cross platform sessions and creator led content, adding these characters is a massive win for lobby banter. These types of pop culture collisions keep seasonal rotations fresh, giving players new reasons to jump back in with friends regardless of whether they play on console or PC. It is a smart play that guarantees plenty of viral clips across TikTok and YouTube shorts.
While branded drops sometimes feel like pure marketing noise, this pairing actually fits the fun, fast paced energy of the genre. As virtual economies and crossover events become standard expectations for live service titles, seeing well executed character packs is always encouraging. You can check out the full launch trailer over at IGN South Africa to see SpongeBob and Patrick burning rubber in action.
