Splitgate 2 is officially relaunching on December 17 as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, bringing major gameplay and progression fixes after a rapid post-launch overhaul by 1047 Games.
Developer 1047 Games is making a bold return, announcing that Splitgate 2 will relaunch as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded on December 17, 2025. The free-to-play shooter is coming to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. This arrives just months after the studio took the unusual step of unlaunching the original version of the sequel following its rocky June release. Middling reviews and a sharp drop in concurrent players led the team to hit the brakes and completely rethink the project based on direct community feedback.
During the temporary wind-down, CEO Ian Proulx listened closely to fans who wanted an experience much closer to the original game. The updated release promises essential features that were missing at launch, including robust leaderboards, revamped progression systems, more portal walls across maps, and fine-tuned game modes. The team also overhauled the seasonal monetization model to make battle passes and digital purchases much clearer and less frustrating for players.
While early projections pointed toward a 2026 return, this December rollout means the community gets their hands on the revised arena shooter much sooner than anticipated. For a genre where player retention and smooth cross-platform progression make or break a live-service title, this fast pivot will be closely watched by the industry.
