Space Marine 2 Devs Reveal the Most Popular PvE Classes, and Sniper Takes a Surprising Fall

Focus Entertainment has revealed the most-played PvE classes in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, with the versatile Tactical class taking the top spot and the Sniper landing at the bottom.

Focus Entertainment has dropped fresh player data for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 to mark the game's two-year anniversary. If you have spent time diving into the cooperative Operations mode, you might have guessed that the versatile Tactical class takes the crown. According to official stats shared on the publisher forums, Tactical was picked a massive 44.4 million times over the past year. Bulwark follows closely behind in second place, proving that players love a reliable support option that keeps the squad alive, while Assault and Heavy round out the top tier.

The real surprise on the list sits right at the bottom. The Sniper class managed only 20 million picks, landing behind even the DLC-based Techmarine. While the Sniper packs incredible single-target damage, the demanding playstyle and fiddly mechanics do not quite fit the chaotic, close-quarters brawling that defines the core experience. Tactical claims the top spot largely due to access to devastating melta weapons and the Auspex Scan ability, which completely melts tough bosses and acts as an essential tool for high-difficulty groups.

Looking ahead, the class meta is bound to shift even further. Saber Interactive has already outlined plans to tweak the notoriously difficult Chaos enemy encounters, and the Year 3 roadmap points toward the arrival of the Apothecary class in early 2027. With new additions on the horizon and plenty of viable team compositions to test, Space Marine 2 continues to reward players who mix up their squad chemistry across different operations.
