Sony's Latest State of Play Lays Out a Massive Roadmap for 2026 and Beyond

Sony's latest State of Play delivered major release dates for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation and Until Dawn 2, alongside fresh looks at Ghost of Yōtei's new survival mode and Konami's jazzy Rhapsody in Scarlet.

Sony used its latest State of Play broadcast to map out the PlayStation 5 release schedule for the remainder of the year and deep into 2027. The showcase kicked off with a cinematic look at Zach Cregger's upcoming Resident Evil film adaptation before diving straight into a heavy lineup of new trailers and release dates. Insomniac gave fans another look at Marvel's Wolverine, while Sucker Punch revealed a new single-player survival mode titled Most Wanted for Ghost of Yōtei, launching alongside a complete edition on October 1.

Square Enix dominated plenty of the runtime with major updates for its powerhouse franchises. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation officially locked in an April 8 release date alongside a fresh action trailer featuring Cid and Cait Sith, while a demo for Final Fantasy Resonance dropped immediately following the stream. Capcom also finally showed off the high altitude Ascendance expansion for Monster Hunter, which is slated to arrive sometime in 2027 and introduces cloud-skimming mounts and transforming ecosystems.

Konami turned heads with a pair of distinct reveals, including the anime-inspired action RPG Rev Noir and a stylish, jazz-themed adventure set in a fantasy version of 1920s New York called Rhapsody in Scarlet. Other notable highlights included a surprise release date for Until Dawn 2 on January 28, new gameplay footage for Metro 2039, and a boss rush mode heading to Housemarque's Saros later this year. Polygon provided initial coverage of the event.
