Celebrating thirty-five years of the franchise, Sega and Jersey Jack Pinball have announced the first official Sonic the Hedgehog pinball machine, designed by industry legend Steve Ritchie.
Sega and manufacturer Jersey Jack Pinball are celebrating thirty-five years of the blue blur by giving the franchise its very first physical pinball machine. While Sonic has inspired plenty of pseudo-pinball spin-offs and casino zones over the decades, this new project is a fully realized arcade cabinet built by legendary pinball designer Steve Ritchie. Known as the King of Flow, Ritchie brought his decades of industry experience to the project, aiming to capture the sheer velocity of Sega's mascot through physical hardware.
To match Sonic's legendary speed, Ritchie designed the table around custom magnetized ramps that physically accelerate the ball across the playfield. The cabinet incorporates classic series elements like Chaos Emeralds, a golden ring-shaped plunger, and an extensive cast of characters including Tails, Shadow, and Dr. Eggman. Modern presentation meets retro nostalgia through thousands of newly recorded voice lines and dynamic LED lighting that reacts to active gameplay goals, ensuring the machine feels right at home in modern arcades and enthusiast collections.
Available for pre-order in Collector, Special, and Arcade editions, the table bridges the gap between traditional arcade culture and modern gaming fandom. As physical spaces and arcade bars continue to serve as vibrant social hubs for the community, hardware like this proves that retro icons still know how to command a room.
