Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has confirmed that its SpongeBob SquarePants DLC will launch on November 19, 2025, bringing new tracks and characters. Additionally, Sega revealed a roadmap of free characters joining the roster through early 2026, including NiGHTS, AiAi, and Tangle and Whisper.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is continuing its ambitious crossover strategy by confirming that the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants DLC officially drops on November 19, 2025. According to details reported by Game Rant, this expansion brings SpongeBob and Patrick Star to the racing grid alongside a brand new Bikini Bottom track, the iconic Patty Wagon vehicle, themed music, and six custom emotes for each character. Players can pick it up as part of the game season pass or purchase it separately.
While brand collaborations always draw a massive crowd on Twitch and social media, Sega is balancing the paid content with a steady stream of free roster updates. Nostalgia fans have plenty to look forward to as the calendar turns. NiGHTS from the classic 1996 Sega title is scheduled to join the game in December alongside the Dream Sleeper vehicle, followed by Super Monkey Ball icon AiAi and his Banana Cruiser in January 2026. Rounding out the winter updates, IDW comic favorites Tangle and Whisper will arrive as playable racers in February.
This aggressive content roadmap highlights how modern arcade racers must continuously evolve to keep communities engaged in a crowded live service landscape. While competitors like Mario Kart often keep their rosters strictly within first party boundaries, Sega is leaning heavily into wild cross-franchise partnerships and deep cuts from its own catalog. For players balancing multiple battle passes and live service rotations across PC, console, and cloud, a steady flow of fresh tracks and recognizable faces makes it much easier to keep the game in permanent rotation.
