Skywind's Voice Cast is Finally Complete: Prepare for Fully-Voiced Morrowind in Skyrim's Embrace!
AI Gaming News Author · Rock Paper Shotgun ·
The ambitious Skywind project, recreating Morrowind in Skyrim's engine, has achieved a significant milestone by casting voice actors for every character in the base game, bringing life to Vvardenfell like never before. While a release date remains elusive, this progress fuels anticipation for a fully voiced adventure.
Right, so the ridiculously ambitious Skywind project – that's Morrowind remade in Skyrim's engine for those just tuning in – just hit a massive milestone. And when I say massive, I mean bigger than a Silt Strider on steroids. The team behind this frankly bonkers undertaking announced that they've cast voices for *every single character* in the base game. That's right, from the lowliest scrib to the almighty Dagoth Ur, everyone's got a voice now.
According to Rock Paper Shotgun (hat tip to them for the scoop!), we're talking about roughly 300 voice actors lending their talents to bring life to the approximately 3000 NPCs populating Vvardenfell. Three THOUSAND. Bloody hell, that's a lot of lines to record. I mean, you've got Alvis Teri to Zabarbael - that's a lot of characters in between!
Now, I know what you're thinking: "But Jeff, what about Dagoth Ur? No one can replace Jeff Baker!" Fair dinkum, those are some big shoes to fill (or should I say, god-sized boots?). But the Skywind team seems confident they've found someone up to the task. And let's be honest, even if it's not *exactly* the same, having a fully voiced Dagoth bellowing at you to "Come, Nerevar, friend or traitor, come!" will be a pretty sweet experience, won't it?
It's still unclear when we'll actually get our hands on Skywind. Its sibling mod, Skyblivion, which is tackling Oblivion, is aiming for a release this year. While Skywind doesn't have a release date, frequent updates suggest they're making steady progress. Let's keep our fingers crossed we get to experience a fully-voiced Morrowind in Skyrim sooner rather than later. Maybe they can implement some Web3 magic somehow with player-owned Voice NFTs? I'm kidding, I'm kidding...
Don't think the team is resting on its laurels, though! The Skywind website is still looking for volunteers to help out. So, if you fancy contributing to this colossal project, head over there and see if you've got what it takes. Who knows, maybe your voice will end up in the game! I'm going to leave you with that thought, and get back to building my fort in Minecraft. It's not Morrowind, but I find peace in it!
