Skyrim Hits Nintendo Switch 2 as Bethesda Releases the Epic on Yet Another Platform

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, bringing performance upgrades, faster load times, and a free upgrade path for existing owners, as originally reported by Polygon.

It is happening again. Bethesda Game Studios has officially brought The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition to the Nintendo Switch 2, marking the tenth platform for the legendary role-playing game since its original 2011 launch. For a game that has spanned multiple console generations, the latest release brings the title to Nintendo's newer hardware with some notable quality of life upgrades for players picking it up on the go or at home.

Aside from bundling the base game with its three major expansions (Dawnguard, Dragonborn, and Hearthfire), the Switch 2 version takes advantage of the upgraded console to deliver better performance, sharper resolution, and significantly faster load times. Bethesda has also added mouse support, motion controls, and kept amiibo functionality intact alongside the curated Creation Club and Zelda crossover gear.

For players who already own the Anniversary Edition on the original Nintendo Switch, the upgrade to the Switch 2 version is completely free. Owners of the base version on the older console can grab the Anniversary upgrade for $18.99, while newcomers can find the complete package directly on the Nintendo eShop. Whether you are returning for another stealth archer run or testing out the hardware upgrades, it seems we are all bound to step into Helgen once again.
