Polygon outlines six must-play PlayStation 5 games releasing in October, offering a mix of expansions, flight combat, high-speed racing, survival horror, and action RPGs before the heavy November release window.
Following a packed September that brought heavy hitters like Marvel's Wolverine and Control Resonant, October keeps the momentum rolling for PlayStation 5 players. Before the massive November one-two punch of Zelda and Grand Theft Auto 6 dominates the conversation, this month delivers a diverse lineup spanning high-speed racing, tense survival horror, and slick action RPGs. Polygon recently highlighted six standout titles that deserve a spot on your wishlist right now.
The month kicks off strong on October 1 with the Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition, introducing the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion and a new roguelike mode featuring Jin Sakai. Flight simulation fans can jump into Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve on October 2 for tactical dogfights and narrative choices, while Star Wars: Galactic Racer brings Burnout-style arcade thrills to a galaxy far, far away on the same day. Later in the month, things shift toward darker thrills with the first-person Soulslike Valor Mortis on October 13 and the anime-styled survival horror Anomalith on October 28.
Rounding out the month on October 29 is Phantom Blade Zero, bringing its distinct kungfupunk aesthetic and motion-captured martial arts action to the table. With over thirty primary weapons and a desperate race against a sixty-six day clock, it stands out as a major test of skill for action RPG fans. Whether you are streaming your playthroughs to a community on Twitch or just looking for your next single-player obsession, October offers plenty of fresh experiences to dive into before the holiday rush takes over.
