MCU star Simu Liu discussed his upcoming return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and shared his appreciation for the cult classic game Sleeping Dogs during Comic Con 2026.
When Simu Liu takes the stage, people listen, but this time the conversation took an interesting turn toward our side of the entertainment spectrum. During a recent appearance reported by IGN South Africa at Comic Con 2026, the MCU star didn't just drop hints about Shang Chi returning to the big screen for upcoming Avengers projects. He also took a moment to sing the praises of Sleeping Dogs, reminding everyone that Square Enix's open world crime drama remains an absolute classic in the gaming space.
It is always refreshing to see mainstream Hollywood talent genuinely engage with gaming culture beyond surface level press tour talking points. Sleeping Dogs launched way back in 2012, yet it continues to resonate with players and creators alike for its stellar hand to hand combat, atmospheric Hong Kong setting, and fantastic storytelling. For a modern audience that grew up watching prestige streaming content and playing massive open world games on PC, console, or cloud, hearing a major blockbuster actor champion a cult favorite like Sleeping Dogs feels validating.
It highlights how deeply gaming is woven into the modern pop culture fabric, where A list actors are just as likely to nerd out over classic titles as they are to discuss their next franchise role.
