Silksong Surfaces! Playable Demo Flies into Gamescom, Courtesy of Xbox

The *Hollow Knight: Silksong* drought might finally be over, with a playable demo confirmed for Gamescom at the Xbox booth. Time to dust off the passport and practice your queueing etiquette, eh?
Right, listen up, because this is HUGE news for anyone who's been holding their breath for *Hollow Knight: Silksong* (which, let's be honest, is pretty much all of us). Courtesy of our mates at Eurogamer, we've learned that Microsoft's Gamescom booth is going to be the place to be if you want to get your grubby mitts on a playable demo of the darn thing. Six years, mate, six years since the announcement! You'd be forgiven for thinking it was all just a fever dream, wouldn't you?
Tucked away in an Xbox Wire post that's probably drier than a goblin's biscuit, Microsoft casually dropped the bombshell that *Silksong* will be playable on PC or ROG Xbox Ally X (their upcoming handheld thingy). I reckon they knew what they were doing, burying the good stuff like that. Makes the anticipation even sweeter, doesn't it?
Gamescom, for those not in the know, is basically the Glastonbury of gaming – a massive, sprawling event held in Cologne, Germany. So, if you're planning a trip, make sure you factor in queueing time. It's gonna be packed. (Think mosh pit, but with more anxious gamers and less beer… probably).
But wait, there's more! Apparently, the Xbox booth will be overflowing with other tasty treats. Eurogamer namechecks *Borderlands 4*, *Onimusha: Way of The Sword*, *Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater*, *EA Sports FC 26*, *Aniimo There Are No Ghosts at the Grand*, *PowerWash Simulator 2*, *Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade*, *Final Fantasy 16*, *Invincible VS Super Meat Boy 3D*, *Cronos: The New Dawn*, and *Mistfall Hunter*. That's a bloody impressive lineup, even if half of those titles sound like they were generated by a slightly broken AI.
And for those who fancy a go on the ROG Xbox Ally or ROG Xbox Ally X, you can also have a crack at *Roblox*, *Sea of Thieves*, and *Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4*. Something for everyone, eh?
Of course, the biggest question is still lurking: When *exactly* is *Silksong* coming out? Team Cherry assured us back in January that it's "real, progressing and will release" (bless their cotton socks), and is scheduled to come out this year (fingers crossed). But a firm date? Still nothing. Typical. But hey, a playable demo is a start. A tantalising glimpse into the void of our collective anticipation.
So, if you're heading to Gamescom, make a beeline for the Xbox booth. Just try not to elbow anyone *too* hard. And if you *do* get to play *Silksong*, please, for the love of all that is holy, tell us what you thought. We're all dying to know. Maybe even share the experience on Web3 – some in game clips that are actually ownable?
