Silksong Still MIA: Hollow Knight Fans' Hopes Dashed Again, and the Salt is Real

Another Nintendo Direct, another *Silksong* no-show, and another wave of hilarious despair from the *Hollow Knight* fandom. It's a rollercoaster of emotions, but at least the community's keeping the meme fires burning bright!
Right, so another Nintendo Direct has come and gone, and you guessed it – still no sign of *Hollow Knight: Silksong*. Honestly, at this point, it's less about anticipation and more about watching the fanbase collectively descend into glorious, meme-fueled madness. IGN South Africa reported on the fallout, and fair dinkum, the reaction is something to behold.
Remember when we all thought this was the one? A Nintendo Direct earlier this year whispered sweet nothings of a 2025 release, and Microsoft even dangled the carrot of a playable demo at Gamescom. You'd think that would be enough to get Team Cherry to at least wave a little 'hello' from the development mines. But no. Nada. Zilch. The silence is deafening, mate.
Over on the *Hollow Knight* and *Silksong* subreddits, it's basically a dumpster fire of disappointment. The top thread is a meme of a cat laughing maniacally, which pretty much sums it up. Comments range from the existential dread of "Silksong isn't real" to the darkly humorous "At least this is consistent in my life." One user even declared they'd lost all hype, only to be swiftly called out by a sassy commenter who pointed out they were, you know, *still there, complaining*.
But what's really interesting is the simmering frustration directed at Team Cherry themselves. Some reckon they should be throwing us a bone now and then, instead of leaving us to rely on Nintendo or Xbox to drop hints (or, more accurately, *not* drop hints). It's a fair point, innit? A little communication can go a long way in keeping the hype train chugging along, rather than derailing into a pit of despair.
Officially, we're still looking at a pre-Christmas 2025 release, and apparently, it's got nothing to do with the ROG Ally X handheld. So, that's… something? Look, I'm not saying to abandon hope entirely. But maybe temper those expectations a tad. Think of it like a really long-running magic trick – the anticipation is half the fun, even if the magician keeps accidentally setting his cloak on fire. We’ll see what transpires at Gamescom Opening Night Live, won’t we? Maybe, just maybe, Team Cherry will surprise us all. Or maybe we'll just get more memes. Only time will tell. But hey, at least the memes are gold.
