Silent Hill 2 Remake Devs Reveal Star Trek: Shadow Frontier

Bloober Team and Paramount Games Studio announced Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, a Next Generation-era psychological thriller starring Ro Laren and featuring Michelle Forbes reprising her role, slated for a 2027 release on current-gen platforms and Nintendo Switch 2.

Bloober Team is shifting from psychological horror to the final frontier. As reported by Polygon, the studio behind the recent Silent Hill 2 remake and Paramount Games Studio announced Star Trek: Shadow Frontier during Summer Game Fest 2026. Set in The Next Generation era, the sci-fi thriller stars the iconic Bajoran officer Ro Laren. Actor Michelle Forbes is returning to reprise her role as the fan favorite character who famously clashed with Starfleet.

The game strands Ro on an uncharted planet after she responds to a distress call. According to the developers, the crash site is a massive spaceship graveyard where nothing is as it seems. Players will navigate a corrupted surface, battle hostile wildlife, and fight off a mysterious entity targeting both body and mind. It is a sharp tonal shift for Star Trek, leaning heavily into the dark, atmospheric storytelling that Bloober Team established in games like Observer and Cronos: The New Dawn.

Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno noted that the studio wanted to blend its signature psychological thriller style with the beloved sci-fi universe. Paramount appears equally confident in the pairing, leaning on Bloober's track record for immersive pacing. The project adds to an already crowded slate for the developer, which also has a Saw asymmetric multiplayer game and Layers of Fear 3 in the works. Star Trek: Shadow Frontier is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
