SDCC 2025: Trailers Galore! From Aztec Batman to...Spinal Tap 2? Bloody Hell!

San Diego Comic-Con 2025 dropped a ton of trailers, and Jeff's here to give you the lowdown, from the potentially brilliant (Aztec Batman!) to the head-scratching (another Spinal Tap?). Prepare for dimension-hopping peacekeepers, creepy clowns, and maybe even a toxic crusader or two.
Right, so San Diego Comic-Con 2025 has wrapped up, and like always, it unleashed a tidal wave of trailers. Some genuinely exciting, some… well, let's just say they're banking on nostalgia harder than a goblin hoarding gold. IGN South Africa did the heavy lifting of rounding up the most-watched trailers, so let's dive into what grabbed everyone's eyeballs, shall we?
First up, **Peacemaker Season 2**. John Cena's back, and this time he's hopping dimensions from the old DCEU into the shiny new DCU. Sounds a bit like a magical mishap gone right, doesn't it? The trailer teases how he makes the jump, with the new episodes picking up a month after the events of Superman. I'm cautiously optimistic – the first season had a certain chaotic charm that I hope they haven't lost.
Then there's **Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires**. Now, this is where things get interesting. Imagine Batman, but instead of Gotham, it's 16th-century Mesoamerica. Young Yohualli Coatl's dad gets offed by Spanish conquistadors (as you do), and he ends up training in the temple of the bat god Tzinacan. It sounds absolutely bonkers, but in a good way. It's due on digital soon, followed by physical releases if you're one of those players who actually still buys discs. Fair play to you if you do!
**Welcome to Derry**, the *IT* prequel, also dropped a trailer. More creepy clowns, more unsettling vibes, all set in 1962. If you're into being properly spooked, this could be right up your alley.
And... **Spinal Tap II: The End Continues**? Forty-one years after the original, the band's back together for one last concert. Marty Di Bergi's along for the ride, documenting their supposed mortality. Honestly, the lineup of cameos is ridiculous. Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer *and* Elton John and Paul McCartney? This is going to be either hilarious or a complete train wreck, I reckon. I'm leaning towards hilarious.
For the sci-fi fans, there's **Alien: Rogue Incursion - Part One: Evolved Edition**, the non-VR version of the Alien game where you play as ex-Colonial Marine Zula Hendricks, battling Xenomorphs on a uncharted planet. Expect scares, tension, and probably a lot of screaming (both from the character and the player).
Fighting game fans got a peek at **Invincible VS**'s Battle Beast gameplay. Fast-paced, hard-hitting combat is the name of the game. This one's slated for 2026, so plenty of time to practice your button-mashing skills.
**Gen V Season 2**, the spin-off from *The Boys*, is coming back soon. Expect it to tie directly into the main series, with appearances from Starlight, Black Noir, and The Deep. And Homelander's pretty much running the country now, so… yeah, things are gonna be messy. I am cautiously optimistic here.
**The Mighty Nein**, an animated series based on Critical Role, promises a tale of fugitives and outcasts trying to stop reality from unraveling. Sounds like a classic fantasy romp with a modern twist, and I'm always down for that.
Shin Godzilla is getting a North American re-release with a 4K remaster. This is a chance to see Godzilla in all its terrifying glory on the big screen again.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians returns for a second season, based on The Sea of Monsters. Percy's back at Camp Half-Blood, dealing with cyclops brothers and missing Grover. It will feature a journey “off the map.”
The Long Walk, based on Stephen King's novel, is about a group of young men who can't stop moving or face lethal consequences. The cast includes Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, and Mark Hamill.
Scott Pilgrim EX has a new gameplay trailer. Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers embark on an adventure from the edges of space to the streets of Toronto.
Silent Night, Deadly Night is a reimagining of the 1984 horror classic. It follows Billy, who seeks revenge for the murder of his parents by Santa Claus.
The Legend of Vox Machina returns for its fourth season, with the heroes scattered and facing a cataclysmic threat.
The Toxic Crusaders are back, defending Tromaville against Dr. Killemoff. The game features seven characters and allows up to four players.
Spartacus: House of Ashur is a new take on the Spartacus series, set in an alternate timeline where Ashur is not a slave and owns a Gladiator school.
American Caper, a new comic series by Dan Houser, is a crime fiction story set in Verona, Wyoming. It focuses on two families in a world of corrupt business and crime.
And finally, a deeper look into Battle Beast from Invincible VS, highlighting his aggressive fighting style.
So, there you have it. A whirlwind tour of the biggest trailers from SDCC 2025. Some look promising, some look... questionable. But hey, that's the joy of gaming, isn't it? You never quite know what you're going to get until you get your hands on it.
