Scream 8 Officially in Development Following Scream 7 Box Office Record

Following the record-breaking 200 million dollar success of Scream 7, Spyglass has put Scream 8 into development with Poker Face showrunners Lilla and Nora Zuckerman writing the script.

Horror fans are getting another trip to Woodsboro. Following the massive box office success of Scream 7, which crossed the 200 million dollar mark globally to set a new franchise record, Spyglass is officially moving forward with Scream 8. According to Deadline, the writing duties for the next installment have been handed to Poker Face co-showrunners Lilla and Nora Zuckerman.

Scream 7 benefited heavily from franchise nostalgia and the triumphant return of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott. After sitting out the sixth film due to a contract dispute, Campbell secured a reported 7 million dollar deal to headline the latest sequel alongside returning veteran Courteney Cox. The combination of legacy characters and modern horror pacing clearly resonated with audiences, proving that the masked slasher property still holds massive cultural weight across generations of moviegoers.

Development on the eighth film was practically guaranteed given the numbers. Speaking earlier this month, writer and director Kevin Williamson noted that Campbell already had a strong concept in mind for a follow-up, provided the seventh chapter performed well. With the box office receipts now locked in, the creative team is wasting no time mapping out the next chapter of the enduring horror franchise. Original reporting comes via IGN South Africa.
