Horror fans gearing up for the next chapter of the iconic slasher franchise have a fresh preview to dissect. IGN South Africa recently highlighted an official behind-the-scenes featurette for Scream 7 titled 'Like Mother Like Daughter,' giving audiences a deeper look at the upcoming sequel ahead of its February 27 theatrical release. The featurette focuses heavily on the emotional core of the new film, showcasing stars Neve Campbell and Isabel May as they discuss the dynamic between Sidney Prescott and her daughter.
In this installment, the terror hits closer to home than ever before as a brand new Ghostface targets Sidney's family in her supposed sanctuary. The narrative forces franchise veteran Sidney to drag her past into the light once again to protect the next generation. Alongside Campbell and May, the stacked ensemble cast features returning favorites like Courteney Cox, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding, alongside franchise newcomers including Anna Camp, Joel McHale, and McKenna Grace. Behind the camera, original creator Kevin Williamson steps into the director's chair, working from a screenplay he co-wrote with Guy Busick.
For a franchise that has successfully reinvented itself across decades, leaning into a multi-generational family conflict feels like a smart evolution for modern horror audiences. It gives longtime fans the nostalgic payoff of seeing Campbell and Cox back in action while introducing high-stakes personal drama through the new cast. As the release date approaches, expect the marketing push to ramp up across creator streams and social feeds as horror enthusiasts prepare for opening night.
