Sand: Raiders of Sophie Pushes Release After Server Slam Overload

Hologryph and TowerHaus have delayed the release of Sand: Raiders of Sophie following an overwhelming weekend server slam, opting for an Early Access launch on June 22nd instead.

The launch plans for Sand: Raiders of Sophie have taken a sharp turn. Developers Hologryph and TowerHaus announced that the desert extraction shooter, which features customizable steampunk mobile fortresses, will no longer launch on its scheduled date. According to a recent Steam update reported by Rock Paper Shotgun, the sudden schedule change follows a weekend server slam that vastly exceeded player expectations and brought infrastructure issues to light.

Instead of jumping straight into a full 1.0 release, the team has decided to pivot to an Early Access model. Developers noted that community feedback was both vocal and critical during the test, prompting a shift toward a more collaborative development cycle. This adjustment pushes the new release window to June 22nd, giving the studio roughly two weeks to recalibrate.

Before the updated launch, players will get another chance to test the infrastructure during a secondary server slam scheduled for June 15th. The main priority for the studio right now is sorting out backend capacity to avoid the connection bottlenecks that derailed the initial launch plan. Once the dust settles and the servers prove they can handle the traffic, the team plans to roll out a post-launch roadmap for the community.
