Sam Barlow and Brandon Cronenberg Team Up for Live Action Sci-Fi Horror Game Precognition

Sam Barlow and Infinity Pool director Brandon Cronenberg are teaming up for Precognition, a live-action sci-fi horror game published by Kinetic Publishing.

Half Mermaid Productions has officially unveiled the title and creative direction for its previously teased project. Formerly known as Project C, the upcoming sci-fi horror game is now officially called Precognition. The title brings together creative mastermind Sam Barlow, known for his work on Silent Hill Origins, Shattered Memories, and Immortality, alongside Infinity Pool director Brandon Cronenberg. According to details shared in the announcement, the game follows a woman named Diana who gains the ability to see visions of the future after receiving an experimental neural implant.

Building on the cinematic foundation of Barlow's previous interactive film projects, Precognition utilizes live-action FMV sequences and non-linear storytelling to prioritize player freedom and agency. Cronenberg noted that the collaborative project is a natural fit for his style of subjective, experiential horror. The development team is aiming to craft an authentic sci-fi world defined by cause and effect, where the narrative shifts dynamically based on individual player choices rather than a rigid linear path.

In addition to the creative firepower behind the title, Precognition has secured a publishing deal with Kinetic Publishing. The publishing label was recently launched by the team behind Phasmophobia to support indie developers while keeping creative control firmly in the hands of the creators. As streaming platforms and narrative-driven games continue to captivate audiences who love dissecting lore and multiple endings, Precognition is shaping up to be a major talking point for the horror community.
