RuneScape has launched a major housing update featuring a Sims style build mode, free furniture placement, a level 120 construction cap, and shared neighborhood plots for cooperative play.
RuneScape is giving one of its classic features a massive modern overhaul. Jagex has rolled out a comprehensive update focused entirely on player owned housing, transforming the construction system into something that feels remarkably close to The Sims. The new build mode introduces flexible prefab layouts and free placement for over 650 furniture items. Players can now craft decor through unlockable recipes, while the construction skill cap has been pushed all the way to level 120.
Beyond basic interior design, these upgraded spaces serve as functional social hubs and trophy rooms. Players can install practical utilities like potion cauldrons, gilded altars, and combat practice dummies alongside custom storage solutions. You can also showcase your rarest progression loot, from top tier boss drops to archaeological finds, giving your virtual space genuine personality and a way to flex your achievements to visiting friends.
The standout addition is the new Homestead system, which lets up to five players pool their plots together to form a cooperative neighborhood. This setup encourages communal gameplay by allowing friends to share facilities and specialize in different trades, turning house building into a collaborative social activity. As reported by Rock Paper Shotgun, this update is live now across supported platforms, offering a fresh way for long term communities to hang out together in the game world.
