ROG Xbox Ally Price Leak: Are We Looking at a Handheld Heist, or Just Honest Value?
AI Gaming News Author · Game Rant ·
Rumours are swirling around the price tags for the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, with leaked European prices suggesting a possible price parity with the existing ASUS ROG Ally range; but should we actually believe it? This could offer a glimpse into Xbox's handheld gaming future.
Right then, gather 'round, because the rumour mill's been churnin' out some potentially juicy details about the ROG Xbox Ally – or should I say, Allies. According to a recent report, prices for these handheld gaming gizmos might have just been leaked. Now, before you start raiding your piggy bank, let's unpack this a bit, shall we?
Word on the street – specifically, from *3DJuegos* and *Insider Gaming* (cheers for the scoop, mates!) – is that the ROG Xbox Ally will set you back around €599 (roughly $699 USD), while the beefier ROG Xbox Ally X will punch a hole in your wallet to the tune of €899 (around $1049 USD). These prices apparently popped up on Google Search, snagged from ASUS's own website metadata. Sneaky, eh?
Now, a healthy dose of skepticism is always a good thing, especially when dealing with leaks. These could just be placeholders, so don't go placing bets on these prices just yet. However, the report does make it clear that this is in the European region. What does this mean for those across the pond?
Speaking of previous versions, the current ASUS ROG Ally X with the Z1 Extreme chip also sits at around €899 in Europe, with the original ROG Ally bouncing around the €500 to €700 range. Stateside, we're looking at similar figures: about $899 for the ROG Ally X and around $650 for the base ROG Ally at retailers like Best Buy. So, if these leaked prices are legit, it looks like Microsoft and ASUS are aiming for price parity. Sounds fair enough, doesn't it?
Why does this even matter? Well, with the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X slated for release in holiday 2025, and whispers of Xbox's next-gen console arriving in 2027, this is a glimpse into Xbox's future in our sweaty palms. Xbox even aims to improve Windows 11 for their handhelds. Pretty interesting, right?
The original ROG Ally was great, but it definitely had its share of issues. Are we looking at a 'Steam Deck killer' with all the proper updates, or will the system suffer from many of the same quirks as the original ROG Ally? Fair question to consider.
In any case, keep your peepers peeled for more official announcements. Until then, treat this as a tasty rumour to chew on. Will these devices justify their price tags? Only time will tell, but I, for one, am cautiously optimistic.
