Rockstar Confirms 170 Animal Species for GTA 6 Alongside Fully Interactive Parks

Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will feature 170 animal species across diverse biomes, including a fully visitable zoo in the fictional state of Leonida.

Rockstar Games has shared a massive new wave of details about Grand Theft Auto 6, confirming that the upcoming open world will feature an astonishing 170 distinct animal species. According to a recent feature with Game Informer, the sprawling ecosystem of Leonida will house over 30 land mammals, 60 bird species, and a wide variety of reptiles and aquatic life designed to populate urban streets, rural backroads, and deep wetland biomes.

Michael Kane, Rockstar's vice president of dynamic art, explained that the team wanted to faithfully capture the diverse wildlife of Florida. The studio's art and animation divisions have focused heavily on accurate research, ensuring that everything from coastal dolphins to inland alligators moves and behaves with striking realism. Players will even be able to visit at least one in-game zoo during their time in the fictional state.

While preview builds and official promotional materials have only showcased a fraction of the total roster so far, the confirmation of such a dense and living environment raises the bar for digital world building. As anticipation continues to build across social platforms and creator streams, this level of environmental detail proves that Rockstar is once again focusing heavily on immersion for its next blockbuster release.
