Roblox Replaces Premium with New Roblox Plus Subscription Model

Roblox is replacing its legacy Premium subscription with Roblox Plus, a new five-dollar monthly tier that offers item discounts and private server access instead of direct currency stipends, while introducing creator incentives that have sparked community debate.

Roblox Corporation is shaking up its digital economy once again, announcing the upcoming launch of a new monthly membership tier called Roblox Plus. Set to replace the existing Roblox Premium system, the new five-dollar monthly service drops the direct inclusion of Robux stipends in favor of utility perks. Subscribers will receive a ten percent discount on avatars and in-game items, which scales up to twenty percent after three consecutive months of membership. According to the company, creators will still earn their standard cut on discounted items, as Roblox is covering the difference. Members also gain free access to private servers across supported experiences, alongside fee-free Robux transfers for verified adult users.

The rollout includes additional optional add-on bundles featuring varying amounts of Robux for players who still want their monthly currency fix. However, the structure of the new tier has drawn scrutiny, particularly regarding how it is marketed within the platform. Developers can integrate subscription prompts into their experiences, earning a monthly bonus of up to 250 Robux for the first three months per subscriber they bring in. This incentive structure has raised eyebrows across the community regarding aggressive monetization tactics.

Current Roblox Premium subscribers will be grandfathered in for a time, but new members will be blocked from joining the legacy tier starting April 30th. Furthermore, the bonus Robux perks for remaining Premium members are scheduled to phase out by late May, effectively pushing the player base toward the new Plus model. As reported by Rock Paper Shotgun, these changes signal a continued shift in how Roblox handles monetization and creator incentives across its cross-platform ecosystem.
