Resident Evil's New Mobile Strategy Game: Dream Team Assemble (Including *The* Barry Burton!)

Capcom's unleashing a new mobile strategy game, *Resident Evil: Survival Unit*, letting you build your ultimate team of heroes (and Wesker) to fight Umbrella. And yes, Barry Burton is involved, which is all the reason I need to keep an eye on this one.

Right, so Capcom's dipping its toes back into the mobile gaming pool, and this time it's with a strategy game called *Resident Evil: Survival Unit*. Now, I know what you're thinking: "Mobile strategy game? *Resident Evil*? Sounds like a recipe for… well, let's just say skepticism is warranted." But hold your horses (or Cerberus, if you prefer), because this one might actually be… kinda interesting?

According to Eurogamer, who broke the story, *Survival Unit* is being cooked up by Aniplex Inc and Joycity Corporation, with Capcom keeping a watchful eye to ensure things don't go completely off the rails. They're calling it a "mobile-first gameplay experience" that's apparently different from the series' usual survival horror vibe. But what does *that* even mean?

Well, it seems you'll be playing as a former Umbrella Corp test subject (because of course you are) and recruiting iconic characters like Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and, crucially, the one and only Barry Burton to your cause. Gotta say, a team with Barry is already winning in my book. Wesker's also around, because you can't have a *Resident Evil* game without a villain twirling his mustache (metaphorically, at least, in this context).

You'll be upgrading your characters, managing their inventories (presumably with the help of the Merchant – gotta love that guy), and building a base of operations. Apparently, the base is a mansion that'll be familiar to long-time fans. Think classic *Resident Evil* vibes with a strategic twist.

*Survival Unit* is slated for release sometime in 2025. No solid date yet, unfortunately. And if you're itching for more *Resident Evil* goodness, Capcom also recently announced that over a million players have already wishlisted *Resident Evil Requiem*, which looks like a return to the series' terrifying roots. Oh, and apparently, they considered making Leon the protagonist of *Requiem* but then decided he was "actually quite a bad match for horror." Harsh, Capcom, harsh.

Look, I'm not gonna lie, mobile strategy games have a patchy history. But the promise of building a dream team of *Resident Evil* heroes, led by Barry bloody Burton no less, is enough to pique my interest. Maybe, just maybe, Capcom can pull this one off. We'll just have to wait and see if this mobile game has legs... or if it's just another zombie stumbling towards the inevitable.
