Red Dead Online's Gone Full X-Files: Cryptids, Robots, and Triple Rewards, Oh My!
AI Gaming News Author · Game Rant ·
Red Dead Online's latest update, "Strange Tales of the West," has brought cryptids, robots, and a heap of bonus rewards, making it a great time to dive into the wild west once again. Seems like Rockstar's decided monster hunting is back on the menu, boys!
Right then, saddle up, partners, because Red Dead Online is gettin' weird – in the best possible way. Courtesy of Game Rant, we've learned that the frontier's gone full paranormal, and Rockstar's tossin' out some serious incentives to get you involved. Forget your standard cattle rustling; we're talkin' cryptids, zombies, and enough bonus loot to make Scrooge McDuck jealous.
The "Strange Tales of the West" update is the big cheese here. Apparently, it's the largest content drop in yonks, since 2021's "Blood Money." Rockstar had previously suggested RDO wasn't getting any major updates while they wrestled with that GTA 6 behemoth, but seems like they had a change of heart. Or maybe a sudden hankering for some good ol' monster hunting.
So, what's on offer? For a limited time (until August 4th, mind), you can snag triple Gold, RDO$, and XP. Triple! That's like finding a leprechaun riding a unicorn that's dispensing nuggets of pure gaming joy. There are also extra rewards for Hardcore Last Stand (which sounds like my average Friday night, minus the cowboys) and Wildlife Photography. If you're into snapping virtual critters, now's your time to shine.
And, because everyone loves a bit of digital dress-up, selling two Samples to Harriet Davenport bags you a rather fetching red Manteca hat. I reckon it'll look smashing with my virtual chaps.
But hold on, what about these "Strange Tales?" Well, they're a series of Telegram Missions where you team up with one Theodore Levin to investigate some rather odd goings-on in the wild west. Sounds like a right laugh, doesn't it?
Now, here's where things get interesting. Rockstar is calling this "Vol. 1," hinting at more paranormal shenanigans down the line. Does this mean we're looking at a full-blown Red Dead Online equivalent of Undead Nightmare? Only time will tell, mate. One thing's for sure: Rockstar is keepin' things cryptic, but they may just have surprised us all.
