Real-world racing champion Forever Young is officially galloping into Umamusume: Pretty Derby, following confirmation from the horse's owner after a major victory at the Saudi Cup.
Real-world racing royalty is making the jump to mobile screens. Following a massive victory at the Saudi Cup, champion thoroughbred Forever Young is officially heading to Cygames' breakout hit Umamusume: Pretty Derby. The crossover was practically confirmed by the horse's owner, Susumu Fujita, during an interview with Idolhorse where he noted that the champion will be contributing to the game in the near future. This announcement arrives on the heels of a clever teaser dropped by the developers last year, which featured a mysterious silhouette paired with a date that conveniently matches Forever Young's birthday.
For players who jumped into the global launch last year following the game's initial 2021 Japanese debut, this addition bridges real-world sports and virtual entertainment in the way this franchise does best. Umamusume has carved out a massive cross-platform community by blending competitive training mechanics with idol culture, turning legendary racehorses into beloved anime characters. Bringing a contemporary dirt-racing icon like Forever Young into the roster gives the community a fresh real-world connection to celebrate on their mobile devices and PCs.
This high-profile addition comes at an interesting operational time for Cygames. The studio recently faced community pushback after announcing an internal AI-focused sub-studio, leading developers to walk back their plans and promise clearer communication regarding generative tools. Yet, the core appeal of Umamusume remains rooted in its authentic celebration of horse racing history and community enthusiasm. As players await exact release details from the developers, the upcoming arrival of Forever Young proves that the game's unique synergy with real-world sports is only accelerating.
