Ubisoft has delayed Rayman Legends Retold by two months to December 3, giving the development team extra time to polish the platformer remake despite the game already going gold.
As the autumn release calendar hits a fever pitch with massive titles like Grand Theft Auto 6 dominating the conversation, Ubisoft has quietly cleared space for its lone major fall offering. Polygon reports that Rayman Legends Retold, a comprehensive remake of the 2013 platformer, has been pushed back from its initial October 1 launch date to December 3. According to the development team, the game has already gone gold, but the studio opted to take an extra two months to refine details and ensure the project hits the exact quality bar they are aiming for.
While remaking a critically acclaimed game from just over a decade ago raised some eyebrows at first, Ubisoft brand manager Loïc Gounon explained that the studio wanted a project that could appeal to longtime fans while onboarding a fresh generation of players. The updated version is not just a fresh coat of paint. The team has reworked several elements from the original release, including fixes for legacy complaints and a brand new final world designed to deliver a much stronger conclusion to the adventure.
For players eager to see what the extra development time is buying, Ubisoft has a few things lined up to soften the blow of the delay. A fresh gameplay overview trailer is slated to drop on September 22, accompanied by new hands-on impressions from press and content creators. If the team sticks to this new December window, platformer fans across console and PC will have a neat nostalgia trip to unwrap right before the holiday break kicks into high gear.
