Nintendo surprised fans by shadow dropping the classic GameCube title Star Fox Adventures onto the Nintendo Switch Online service, giving players instant access to Rare's divisive action-adventure game.
Nintendo surprised players during its latest direct presentation by shadow dropping Star Fox Adventures onto the Nintendo Switch Online classics catalog. Subscribers using compatible hardware can jump right into the 2002 action adventure title from Rare today. The release adds another heavy hitter to the growing library of GameCube titles arriving on modern platforms.
Originally released on the GameCube to generally positive reviews, Star Fox Adventures traded traditional space dogfights for third-person exploration, melee combat, and puzzle solving on Dinosaur Planet. While its departure from the standard formula divided fans at launch, the game has evolved into a beloved cult classic over the years. Players can now experience its detailed environments and Zelda inspired progression all over again.
This surprise drop comes as part of a broader effort by Nintendo to bring the Star Fox franchise back into the spotlight. Following recent updates, a classic series remake earlier this year, and persistent rumors of a brand new entry in development, Fox McCloud is enjoying a major resurgence. It is a welcome addition for subscribers looking to dive into some nostalgic platforming and adventure across their modern hardware.
