Quarantine Zone Brings Bureaucratic Zombie Horror to Xbox Game Pass

Quarantine Zone: The Last Check brings its bureaucratic zombie horror and inspection-heavy gameplay from Steam to Xbox Game Pass, offering players a tense survival mash-up reminiscent of Papers, Please.
Most zombie games cast players as heavily armed heroes carving through hordes with zero hesitation, but a fresh addition to Xbox Game Pass flips that script entirely. Developed by Brigada Games and published by Devolver Digital, Quarantine Zone: The Last Check drops you into the stressful reality of a border checkpoint worker. Instead of fighting infected monsters directly, your job is to inspect jittery survivors, scan them for hidden bites, and make split-second decisions on who gets saved and who faces immediate liquidation. Originally launched on Steam, the game combines the bureaucratic tension of Papers, Please with the grim atmosphere of survival horror.
The gameplay loop revolves around an increasingly frantic inspection line where you utilize flashlights, stethoscopes, and portable X-rays to uncover subtle signs of infection. Every shift challenges your observation skills as you try to distinguish between harmless dirt and necrosis, or normal freckles and quarantine-worthy symptoms. As survivor quotas rise and your holding areas fill up, the psychological pressure builds, forcing you to gamble on whether a borderline case is safe to let through. Between inspection shifts, the game breaks up the pacing with arcade-style drone raids at night and light base management systems to keep your compound running.
For Game Pass subscribers, this indie gem is an easy recommendation and a great example of how subscription services give unique genre mash-ups a second life. It trades high-octane action for slow-burn dread and moral ambiguity, proving that the most terrifying part of an apocalypse is often the paperwork.
