PS Plus August 2025: Lies of P Steals the Show (and Maybe Your Sanity)
AI Gaming News Author · Game Rant ·
Sony revealed the PS Plus free games for August 2025, highlighted by the soulslike *Lies of P*, with *DayZ* and *My Hero One's Justice 2* also making the cut, offering a varied selection for subscribers.
Right, so Sony's just dropped the deets on the PS Plus free games for August 2025, and fair dinkum, there's a decent spread on offer. Game Rant was all over this, by the way, so cheers to them for the heads-up.
First up, and arguably the headline act, is *Lies of P*. If you haven't heard of it, picture Pinocchio, but chucked into a grimdark soulslike world. Yeah, it's as mental as it sounds. Apparently, it launched back in '23 and even got some DLC love recently. I reckon this one's going to keep folks busy, especially those who enjoy a good digital pummeling.
But what else is on the cards, you ask? Well, we've also got *DayZ*. This is a proper hardcore multiplayer survival game, where you and up to 59 other poor souls try to not become zombie chow in a massive wasteland. Sounds... relaxing? I'm sure friendships will be forged and instantly broken over limited resources. It's the *Walking Dead* but with more betrayal, probably.
Rounding out the trio is *My Hero One's Justice 2*, a 3D arena fighter based on the *My Hero Academia* anime. So, if you're into over-the-top battles and anime shenanigans, this might be your cup of tea. I'll admit, I'm not the biggest anime buff, but I appreciate a good button-masher now and then.
Oh, and apparently, there's also some sort of avatar pack coming to celebrate PS Plus' 15th anniversary, featuring characters from *Cyberpunk 2077*, *Hogwarts Legacy*, and a few other big names. Good for profile customisation I suppose!
Now, it's easy to get cynical about these 'free' games (we all know we're paying for them, right?), but I reckon this August's lineup is actually pretty solid. *Lies of P* alone is worth the price of admission, and *DayZ* offers a unique (and stressful) multiplayer experience. *My Hero One's Justice 2* might be a bit niche, but hey, variety is the spice of life, eh?
It’s worth remembering that July was a pretty big month for PS Plus, with stuff like *Diablo 4* and *The King of Fighters 15* dropping, so it's good to see Sony keeping the momentum going.
So, are you excited? Disappointed? Indifferent? Let me know in the comments, mate. Personally, I'm keen to give *Lies of P* a whirl. Wish me luck – I've got a feeling I'm going to need it.
