Postal 2 is getting a full Unity 6 rebuild called Postal 2 Redux, heading to PC, consoles, and VR in early 2027 after a rapid Kickstarter success.
The controversial 2003 sandbox shooter Postal 2 is making a full return. Original developer Running With Scissors is teaming up with Flat2VR, Team Beef, and Impact Reality for Postal 2 Redux. Following a Kickstarter campaign that met its funding goal in just one day, the complete rebuild in Unity 6 is locked in for a Q1 2027 release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and VR platforms. Players will step back into the chaotic shoes of the Postal Dude in the fictional town of Paradise, Arizona, tackling mundane errands that inevitably spiral into absolute mayhem.
Moving the cult classic to the Unity 6 engine brings major technical overhauls rather than a simple coat of paint. Impact Reality CEO and co-founder Jasmine Uniza notes that the game remains a true sandbox where player choice drives the chaos in a reactive world. The project introduces upgraded textures, modern lighting, and advanced shaders, alongside completely overhauled level streaming to make navigating the open environment much smoother. NPCs are also getting smarter AI routines to better react to the player and their surroundings.
Combat feels completely rebalanced thanks to a brand new physics system, and fan-favorite canine companion Champ returns with expanded interactions. You can pet him, bring him along on your runs, or use him strategically in the sandbox. Originally released to mixed critical reception back in 2003, as reported by IGN, this modernized version gives the legendary shock-value title a fresh chance to see how its unique brand of open-world chaos holds up for modern cross-platform players in 2027.
