Skunkape Games is bringing back Poker Night at the Inventory with a remastered Steam release on March 5th, featuring rebuilt poker mechanics, visual upgrades, and the return of classic TF2 unlocks.
Fans of classic indie crossovers are getting a major nostalgia win next month. Skunkape Games has unexpectedly announced a remastered version of Poker Night at the Inventory, the beloved 2010 Texas Hold'em game that quietly vanished from digital storefronts years ago. The revamped title is scheduled to launch on Steam on March 5th, bringing back the unforgettable poker table featuring Heavy from Team Fortress 2, Max from Sam and Max, Strong Bad from Homestar Runner, and Tycho from Penny Arcade.
While the original game was celebrated for its hilarious banter and crossover appeal, it received fair criticism at the time for having a rather shallow poker simulation beneath the charm. Skunkape is directly addressing that feedback in this new edition by rebuilding the card simulation from the ground up to be far more accurate. Opponents will now make decisions that better fit their individual personalities, providing a much sturdier gameplay foundation to match the comedy.
Beyond the under-the-hood upgrades, the remaster includes a complete visual overhaul with higher resolution character models, crisper animations, detailed environments, and modern lighting. Players will also find fresh customization settings to tweak starting buy-ins and banter frequency. Best of all for veteran cosmetic collectors, classic unlockable Team Fortress 2 items like the Iron Curtain minigun and the Enthusiast's Timepiece are making their return. You can read the original coverage over at Rock Paper Shotgun to see how the cult classic is getting its long overdue second life.
