The first trailer for Pokemon Winds and Pokemon Waves on Nintendo Switch 2 confirms the Gen 10 starters, regional variants, and dozens of returning species.
The recent trailer for Pokemon Winds and Pokemon Waves has finally given players a clear look at the tenth generation of the long running franchise, slated for the Nintendo Switch 2. Reported originally by IGN South Africa, the initial showcase introduced the trio of new starter Pokemon consisting of Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua, alongside a healthy mix of returning favorites. While only three completely new species were shown during the broadcast, the footage featured at least 28 individual species that fans will be catching, hatching, and trading once the games arrive.
Accounting for full evolutionary lines, the early roster climbs to around 50 confirmed Pokemon based on what appeared in the trailer. Familiar faces like Pikachu, Oddish, Wailmer, and Sandygast are all making a return. The trailer also revealed two new variant Pikachu designs, namely Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, continuing the tradition of special costumed variants. With the total pool of creatures across the entire franchise now sitting well past one thousand, players are once again looking at a curated regional Pokedex rather than a complete national dex.
For the community, these trailers always kick off the speculative theorycrafting and team planning that defines the months leading up to a major launch. As the conversation shifts toward regional themes and gameplay improvements on newer hardware, players are eager to see how Game Freak handles the balance between nostalgia and fresh additions.
