Pokemon Unveils Massive Three-Volume Art Compendium for 30th Anniversary

Polygon reports that Game Freak is releasing a massive 1,500-page, three-volume art compendium in December to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pokemon.

As the franchise continues its milestone year, Polygon reports that The Pokemon Company and Game Freak are launching a massive three-volume art compendium covering three decades of monster catching. Spanning 1,500 pages across all three books, the collection features classic illustrations, pixel art, 3D renders, and promotional visuals stretching all the way from Red, Blue, and Green to Legends: Z-A. Each volume also includes an in-depth interview with a member of the Game Freak development team.

The books are scheduled for release in Japan on December 18, priced at roughly $35 each, with no official word yet on an English localization. Because the volumes are sold separately rather than as a bundled set, collectors can choose to grab the specific eras they care about most without committing to the full collection.

This massive art release joins a packed lineup of anniversary goodies including special trading card game sets, a Game Boy style music player with physical cartridges, and high-end companion guides. For a franchise with a massive cross-generational player base spanning mobile apps, modern consoles, and competitive card scenes, these milestone celebrations continue to lean heavily into nostalgia while honoring the history of virtual collection.
