Pokemon TCG Pocket Trading Gets a Much-Needed Upgrade: Farewell Trade Tokens, Hello Shinedust!

Pokemon TCG Pocket is finally giving trading a makeover, ditching the frustrating Trade Tokens for the more common Shinedust and adding long-awaited wishlist features, although those shiny, high-rarity cards are still off-limits, and we have to suffer a five day downtime. Still, that's a step in the right direction. I reckon.

Right, so the digital wizards over at *Pokemon TCG Pocket* reckon they've finally sorted out trading. And fair dinkum, it sounds like they might have actually done it this time. For those not keeping score, trading in *Pokemon TCG Pocket* has been about as smooth as a sandpaper slide. Players have been screaming into the void, using everything *but* the actual game to arrange swapsies. According to Game Rant, the update, slated for July 29th, aims to fix a fair few issues, including the dreaded Trade Tokens. (Remember those? The things that felt rarer than a holographic Charizard?)

**So, what's changing?**

* **Trade Tokens are getting the boot.** Good riddance, I say! They're being replaced with Shinedust, which is apparently already kicking about in the game. Now, *that* sounds a lot easier to come by. * **Wishlists are finally a thing!** You can now flaunt your most-wanted cards on your profile. Three slots only, mind you, so choose wisely, mate. * **Duplicate cards are now more valuable.** You'll get double the Shinedust for chucking your doubles into the digital furnace. Now that's a spicy meatball.

But what about the all-important Trade Token conversion? Game Rant reports that each Token gets you 10 Shinedust, with no limit. So, if you were hoarding them like a digital dragon, you're in for a payday (of sorts). You can also swap one token for a Pack Hourglass, with a one time only limit of 60 apparently.

Now, the catch. There's always a catch, isn't there? The game is going offline for five whole days (July 24-29) while they work their coding magic. Five days! That's practically a digital ice age in gaming time. The devs haven't spilled the tea on *why* it's taking so long, but I reckon it's probably something to do with untangling spaghetti code.

And before you get too excited, you still can't trade those shiny high-rarity cards. The limit is still Diamond and one-star rarity cards. So, those ultra-rare beauties are staying firmly locked in the gatcha machine. I'd wager that's how they'll keep the microtransaction monster fed. Still, you can't win them all, eh?

But all in all, it sounds like a step in the right direction. A slightly clumsy, five-day-downtime-inducing step, but a step nonetheless.
