Pokemon TCG Pocket Celebrates Second Anniversary with Dual-Type Cards in October

Pokemon TCG Pocket is celebrating its upcoming second anniversary in October by introducing dual-type cards, starting with Mega Mewtwo X ex.

Pokemon TCG Pocket is shaking up its digital meta just in time for its second anniversary. According to reports from Game Rant, the mobile card game will officially introduce dual-type cards in its major October update. DeNA and Creatures Inc. revealed the upcoming mechanic at PokemonXP, giving players a first look at how these multi-element cards will function on mobile screens.

The headlining reveal for the October set is Mega Mewtwo X ex, a Psychic and Fighting dual-type card featuring a split-color design. While exact rules for how dual-types will interact with weaknesses and resistances are still under wraps, the update also brings new ex versions of popular starter Pokemon like Fuecoco and Piplup. These additions follow closely on the heels of the recent Team Rocket's Ambition expansion, which dropped late last August to keep the community engaged.

For a mobile game built around daily pack openings and streamlined rulesets, adding dual-types introduces a fresh strategic layer for players managing digital collections. As live service card games continue to rely on regular expansions and anniversary events to retain active player counts, this upcoming update gives the community a strong reason to check back in when October rolls around.
