Pokemon Pokopia Trailer Reveals New Forms for Pikachu and Snorlax Alongside Life Sim Gameplay

Pokemon Pokopia introduces new forms for Pikachu and Snorlax while detailing its cozy life-sim gameplay and four-player co-op features ahead of its March release.

Nintendo has shared a fresh look at Pokemon Pokopia, the upcoming life simulation spin-off that blends community building with classic creature collecting. In a trailer covered by Eurogamer, Nintendo revealed brand new forms for two of the franchise most iconic monsters, introducing a ghostly, pale Pikachu variant named Peakychu and a stone and moss covered Snorlax known as Mosslax. Alongside a new Smeargle variant called Smearguru, these additions mark the first time Pikachu and Snorlax have received entirely new forms outside of standard outfits and Gigantamax mechanics. Players will step into the shoes of a customizable Ditto taking on the role of an island restorer under the guidance of Professor Tangrowth.

The gameplay loop leans heavily into cozy crafting and social mechanics familiar to fans of Animal Crossing and Minecraft. As Ditto, you must regenerate a deserted island by building suitable habitats to attract various Pokemon, from planting tall grass for Charmander to setting up fishing spots for Magikarp. Ditto can also learn signature moves from befriended creatures, utilizing Squirtles Water Gun to water plants, Scythers Cut for gathering, and even taking to the skies on Dragonite. Crafting items at a workbench helps keep the local wildlife comfortable, and the game supports up to four players in co-operative multiplayer with Game Share functionality across Nintendo hardware.

While the cozy appeal and multiplayer focus make Pokopia an intriguing social space for the community, the release comes with a notable hardware caveat. Nintendo confirmed that the game will launch on March 5 using the controversial Game-Key Card physical format. Even with format debates surrounding modern physical media, the title is already generating massive interest and shaping up to be a major multiplayer hit for the platform.
