Pokemon Legends: Z-A Secures Pokemon Home Support Starting April 1

Pokemon Home version 4.0 arrives on April 1, bringing long-awaited transfer support for Pokemon Legends: Z-A on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 alongside specific regional restrictions.

The ecosystem is finally connecting. According to a report by Game Rant, The Pokemon Company is rolling out version 4.0 of Pokemon Home, introducing full compatibility for Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Dropping on April 1 at 5pm PT / 8pm ET following scheduled maintenance, the update arrives nearly six months after the game launched on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 systems. For players who have spent months building out their rosters and shiny hunting across Lumiose City, this means the long-awaited ability to consolidate and move catches into the broader cloud ecosystem.

Of course, modern cross-game economies always come with rules attached, and this update is no exception. Transfers out of Legends: Z-A carry strict one-way restrictions. Once a Pokemon moves from the new title into Pokemon Home, it cannot be transferred backward into older series entries, regardless of whether that species exists in those older titles. The same rule applies in reverse if you pull a legacy mon into Legends: Z-A and try to send it back out later. Additionally, incoming transfers are strictly limited to the native roster available within Legends: Z-A itself.

Alongside the upcoming Pokemon Home integration, players can also grab a fresh patch for Legends: Z-A on both generations of Nintendo hardware designed to smooth out lingering technical performance issues. If your client does not update automatically when the version 4.0 patch goes live, you can manually force the download by hovering over the app icon, pressing the plus or minus button on your controller, and selecting the software update option via the internet. It is a minor step to take for players eager to organize their digital stable across platforms.
