Game Freak is offering a free Alpha Charizard for Pokemon Legends: Z-A via a Mystery Gift password to celebrate the launch of the Mega Dimension DLC.
Game Freak and The Pokemon Company are rolling out a new Mystery Gift distribution for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, giving players a chance to add a powerful Alpha Charizard to their roster. Unlike previous distributions that required completing specific side missions or taking down tough bosses, this level 36 Charizard is available simply by entering the password B1G0006 in the Mystery Gift menu. This variant comes equipped with Solar Beam, a move Charizard does not normally learn, alongside the boosted stats and imposing size that make Alpha Pokemon standout additions to any team. Players have until January 19, 2026, to claim the free monster.
The distribution arrives right alongside the launch of the Mega Dimension DLC, which brings fresh content to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 players who have already rolled credits on the base game. The expansion introduces a new version of Lumiose City accessed via Hyperspace Lumiose, featuring encounters with high level Pokemon and a narrative starring newcomer Ansha and Hoopa. For competitive players, the DLC also confirms that the Mega Stones for Sceptile, Swampert, and Blaziken will soon arrive as rewards in online ranked battles, while the Hoenn starters themselves will be catchable during the expansion's adventures.
This kind of cross promotion and timed distribution remains a staple of keeping active community engagement high for major single player releases. By dropping high utility monsters directly into player hands right as paid post-launch content hits, developers keep the social feeds active and give returning players an immediate tool to tackle tougher late game challenges. As reported by Austin Manchester over at Polygon, the Alpha Charizard code is live right now, so it is worth jumping into your save file to claim it before the window closes.
