Pokemon Go is rolling out its latest themed celebration, with the Ultra Unlock Water Festival running from August 18 through August 24. Reporting originally via Polygon, the event introduces Arrokuda and its evolution Barraskewda alongside Cramorant to the mobile hit. Players can also take advantage of escalating progression buffs, scaling from double XP and triple Stardust in the opening days up to four times XP and five times Stardust during the weekend push.
Unlocking the new additions involves a mix of active play methods, with Arrokuda appearing through event Field Research, Rainy Lure Modules, and specific Go Pass tiers. Cramorant enters the rotation via five-kilometer egg hatches, daily snapshot photobombs, Go Battle League rewards, and higher Go Pass ranks. Niantic has also added unique battle mechanics for Cramorant, allowing the bird Pokemon to shift into its Gorging or Gulping forms during trainer battles when using specific moves.
The event structure includes a 30-tier Go Pass alongside a deluxe track available for purchase, offering extra cosmetics like a Starmie backpack and guaranteed encounters. Alongside boosted wild spawns for water types like Wimpod, Wiglett, and increased shiny rates for selected catches, the festival provides a solid resource grind for mobile players looking to optimize their Stardust reserves before the next competitive season drops.
